Feeling Alone in the Darkness

Have you ever feel so lonely that the only thing you can think about is being with your best friend? Being in a dark place where there's nothing but yourself. Gilgamesh is alone now, Enkidu is gone. "Enkidu has died. Must I die too?Must Gilgamesh be like that?"Have you feel guilty of doing something and others blame your friend? Gilgamesh is feeling a similar guiltiness, he thinks Enkidu didn't deserve to die. He feels that he's the one that should, feeling completely responsible for his death. In the darkness being completely alone with no companion anymore, Gilgamesh is always thinking about Enkidu always reminding himself and Urshanabi Enkidu's bravery and facility in the Cedar Forest. Gilgamesh lost a companion who loved... how would you feel if you lost your greatest companion?

Gilgamesh is trying to protect himself by hiding him with beasts skin. I connect this to Beauty and The Beast, because the beast is always hiding himself from who he really is, just like Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is trying to hide his fear, but by also doing this he is showing his honor. Gilgamesh continues his journey until finally he sees water, the sea. No one has ever come back when they try to go across it.  Gilgamesh is decided to take the risk and what ever it takes to complete his journey only thinking on Enkidu his most leal companion.

Leagues and Leagues Into the Wilderness

In tablets four and five of "Gilgamesh," Enkidu and Gilgamesh have a long trip into the wilderness to kill Huwawa, the demon. Gilgamesh has dreams where the only thing he dreams about is negative, but Enkidu told him his dreams are fortunate. "The dream you dreamed tonight is fortunate. The bull you dreamed of in your dream is not the demon enemy guardian of the forest... ."Gilgamesh asks Enkidu if everything that occurred in his dream is true, though, Enkidu thinks more positively because he knows Gilgamesh is powerful and very strong, still he's scared. Enkidu knows the wilderness so he leads Gilgamesh into it, into the Cedar Forest. In Cedar Forest they found the demon, Huwawa, and together they killed it.

Enkidu is supporting Gilgamesh by saying he's powerful and very strong, "You are the strongest of all." I relate this to a situation in my life, very personally. My best friend has always supported me, but when I seemed to be going down, scared, and sad feelings, she always tells me that I'm really strong and that no person can bring me down. It's like Gilgamesh wanting to destroy the demon, I was trying to destroy my sadness. We were both facing things, and both of us had a person with us making us feel powerful and strong. Finally, we both met our goals, killing the demon, and destroying the sadness.
